New Job Opportunity - Community Outreach Worker

The newly formed Emersons and Lyde Community Energy Company are seeking a part time community outreach worker to help us consult with the community and manage our first events.

We are looking for someone who:

·       recognises the importance of addressing climate change and wants to make a difference;

·       enjoys building relationships with new people and is interested in renewable energy;

·       is digitally literate

Duties include:

·       Pioneering our local survey, created in partnership with Bristol Energy Network

·       Managing our Green Doors Open Day, set for Autumn 2024

·       Organising volunteers and building community life through events and social media

·       Promoting domestic retrofit opportunities in partnership with local suppliers

·       General administration, including email enquiries and database management

Essential skills:

·       Effectively manage your own time and prioritise your workload

·       Communicate effectively and build strong relationships with stakeholders

·       Make informed, timely decisions

·       Work with data, managing information

·       Proactive mindset and a positive can-do attitude

Experience within the renewable energy sector is not essential.  Most important are your key transferrable skills and a genuine passion for tackling climate change.

 

The post is initially for 12 hours per week at a full-time-equivalent rate of £35,000pa. It is funded for nine months, but this may be extended and hours may increase by mutual agreement.

Applicants may be self-employed or employed according to their circumstances and would work in the community and from their home.  Working hours are negotiable but are expected to include two mornings and one other session. Some evening work is expected.

Training on how to work with domestic retrofit advisors will be provided.

 

Emersons and Lyde Community Energy CIC is a not-for-profit community initiative set up by local people looking to create renewable energy and eliminate energy-related poverty. We are working towards clean, affordable power for everyone.
