Green Open Homes Day

Green Open Homes Day is back for 2025!

Green Open Homes Day is back! After a brilliant 2024 we’ll be holding this year’s event on Saturday 20th of September 2025.

On Green Open Homes Day local people who have made energy adaptations, or retrofitted their homes, will invite neighbours in for a cup of tea and a chat about the process.

The aim is to help demystify retrofit by sharing genuine experiences, while showing other people in the community what energy adaptations could be possible in a home like theirs, and what they’re like to live with in reality.

This year we’d like to have even more homes involved across our area, and get more neighbours chatting about retrofit!

Have you made energy changes to your home, like adding solar PV, an air source heat pump, or insulation? Want to be part of a movement to warmer, greener homes? Join our Green Open Homes Day and get the ball rolling in your neighbourhood.

Last Years Green Open Homes Day (2024)

We were excited to be run our first open home event on Saturday 16th of November 2024!

Our Green Open Homes Day was all about local people and local homes. The aim was to share real stories of how people have retrofitted and adapted their homes to use renewable energy and apply energy efficient measures.

With four homes involved in and near Emersons Green, there was a whole range of adaptations to see – from an air source heat pump, solar panels, battery systems, and even a zero emissions boiler, visitors were able to drop by for a chat with homeowners near them about using alternative energy sources.

Our home openers had installed plenty of other energy-saving measures like cavity wall or loft insulation, and secondary glazing, that helped them save money on energy bills.

We loved getting to speak to more people from our community, and we’d like to say a big thank you to our amazing home openers for generously opening their doors for the day! If you’ve retrofitted your home or made energy-saving adaptations, why not get in touch about being involved in a future Green Open Homes Day? Email info@elcoe.co.uk to connect.

Our Green Open Homes Day 2024 was funded by the South West Net Zero Hub, which is hosted by the West of England Combined Authority through the Local Energy Advice Demonstrator Programme.
